PNND Assembly in Prague
14–17 October 2015

Dear friends,

We cordially invite you to the 2015 PNND Assembly in Prague, Czech Republic. The assembly will be held in the Czech Senate and at the Foreign Ministry, just a few steps away from the Prague Castle where US President Barack Obama delivered his landmark speech in 2009, affirming the vision of a world without nuclear weapons. Prague was also the birthplace of the first woman Nobel peace laureate, Bertha von Suttner.

The PNND Assembly will be co-hosted by Senator Ivo Barek, Vice-President of the Czech Senate, and Alena Gajduskova, PNND Council Member, and held in conjunction with the 5th Prague Agenda conference, which is organized annually by the Czech Foreign Ministry and leading academic institutions.

The four day program will consist of academic, ministerial and parliamentary panels and the PNND Council meeting. We will also provide space for networking, sharing of ideas and development of new initiatives.

The parliamentary part of the conference will focus on “Eliminating the Risks of Nuclear Weapons” and the role that parliamentarians can play in this process. In addition to that, a special workshop will be organized for parliamentarians from European countries on “The role of Europe in Nuclear Disarmament”. Please see the conference website for the detailed program.

The conference will be held just before the 133rd Assembly of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Oct 17-21. There are direct flights from Prague to Geneva every day, taking approx. 1 hour. If you are able to be a member of your delegation to IPU and would like to attend both events, please ask your parliamentary travel office to arrange your tickets accordingly.

Please note that PNND has no budget for covering travel and accommodation costs for participants of the event. Since the conference is officially hosted by the Vice-President of the Senate, your parliament should be open to covering your travel costs. PNND can facilitate official invitation letters from the Vice-President of the Senate if required.

For more information see the conference website or contact Ms Jana Jedlickova, PNND Central Europe Coordinator.

Yours sincerely
