PNND Assembly in Prague Oct 14-17:
Dynamic speakers, stimulating dialogue, effective action!

Dear friends,

In 2009 President Obama put forward the vision for the peace and security of a nuclear-weapon-free world. Now is the time to make it happen. Join us for the PNND Assembly and Prague Agenda Conference, Oct 14-17.

The program is now out. It will have a special focus on the role of nuclear deterrence in Europe, the risks of such policies, and actions by parliamentarians to advance options for security without nuclear weapons.

The assembly will provide space for stimulating dialogue and feature a range of dynamic speakers such as Karipbek Kuyukov, a 2nd generation victim of Soviet nuclear tests. Karipbek is Ambassador of the ATOM Project and a renowned speaker and armless painter. Other speakers include:

—    Kim Won-soo (South Korea/USA), Under Secretary-General and Acting High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, United Nations
—    Marit Nybakk MP (Norway), Vice-President of the Norwegian Parliament
—    Marek Jukl (Czech Rep), President, Czech Red Cross
—    Mani Shankar Aiyar MP (India), Principal drafter of the Rajiv Gandhi Action Plan for a Nuclear Weapon Free and Non-violent World Order
—    Johannes Raseriti Tau MP (South Africa), Chair Inter Parliamentary Union Committee on International Peace and Security
—    Senator Salwa al Damen Masri (Jordan), Organiser of Jordan Senate Global Wave 2015 action
—    Adam M. Scheinman (USA), Special Representative of the President of the United States of America for Nuclear Nonproliferation
—    František Janouch (Czech Rep), Nuclear physicist, Chair of the Charter 77 Foundation
—    Hervé Morin MP (France), former Minister of Defence (by video)
—    Thore Vestby (Norway), Vice President of Mayors for Peace
—    Baroness Sue Miller (UK), PNND Co-President
—    Matt Robson (New Zealand), former New Zealand Minister for Disarmament and Arms Control
—    Rimma Velikanova (Latvia), student coordinator of Global Wave 2015
—    Ward Wilson (USA), Author of ‘The Five Myths of Nuclear Weapons’
—    and the co-hosts Senator Ivo Barek (Czech Rep), Vice-President of the Czech Senate, and Alena Gajduskova (Czech Rep), PNND Council Member and advisor to the Prime Minister.

The assembly will feature the Czech premiere of The Man Who Saved the World, an award-winning docu-drama about an incident in 1983 when a nuclear war by accident was narrowly averted by Stanislav Petrov, the Commander of a Soviet nuclear command and control centre. The movie re-creates the 1983 incident, and then follows Petrov to the United States three decades later, where he notes that similar tensions and policies now could lead to a nuclear catastrophe by accident or miscalculation at any time.

The Assembly will also include the PNND annual council meeting (open to all PNND members and representatives of partner organisations) where we will discuss and adopt our program of action for the next 18 months.

Registration is still open. Contact info@pnnd.org or register online at www.pragueagenda.iir.cz#registration.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Prague!
